Procurement Category Lead
Help build a procurement function that creates real commercial impact.
What if you could join a procurement function at the very beginning?
At T&G, we're investing in a new way of thinking about procurement. We're building a function that goes beyond buying products and negotiating contracts, we're creating a trusted commercial partner that helps the business make better decisions, build stronger supplier relationships, and unlock long-term value.
As our Procurement Category Lead, you'll be the second-in-command to the Procurement Manager, playing a pivotal role in shaping how procurement operates across the business. You'll have the opportunity to influence strategy while remaining hands-on, leading sourcing projects, developing category plans, and partnering with stakeholders to solve complex commercial challenges.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building, improving and challenging the status quo.
What you'll be doing
You'll own a broad portfolio of procurement categories, developing strategic category plans that deliver value well beyond cost savings. From leading end-to-end sourcing events and complex negotiations to managing supplier performance and contract lifecycles, you'll be at the centre of how T&G partners with suppliers.
You'll work closely with leaders across Finance, Operations, IT, Growing, Logistics and other corporate functions, becoming a trusted advisor who understands the business and helps teams make smarter commercial decisions.
Alongside delivering today's priorities, you'll help establish the frameworks, processes and governance that will underpin the future of procurement at T&G.
We're looking for someone who...
You know procurement, but more importantly, you know how to influence people.
You're naturally curious and aren't afraid to ask the questions others won't. You enjoy understanding how a business works, challenging assumptions respectfully, and finding better ways of doing things.
You'll likely bring experience across strategic sourcing, category management or procurement, with confidence running end-to-end RFPs, negotiating commercial agreements and managing supplier relationships.
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who:
Builds trusted relationships across all levels of a business.
Thinks commercially and looks for innovative solutions, not just the obvious ones.
Can balance strategic thinking with rolling up your sleeves to deliver outcomes.
Enjoys working in ambiguity and helping establish new ways of working.
Has the confidence to influence without relying on authority.
Brings a growth mindset and enjoys being part of positive change.
Why join T&G?
This is more than another procurement role.
You'll join at a time when procurement is becoming an increasingly strategic function within the business. You'll have genuine input into how the function evolves, the opportunity to own meaningful categories, and the backing of leaders who see procurement as a key driver of business performance.
If you're looking for a role where your ideas will be heard, your work will have visible impact, and you'll help shape the future of procurement at one of New Zealand's leading horticulture businesses, we'd love to hear from you.
