For over 125 years, T&G Fresh has nourished generations of Kiwis with fresh fruit and vegetables. We grow, pack, market, sell, distribute, import and export fresh produce from our own orchards and farms, as well as from over 700 Kiwi growers.
We are delighted to share that T&G is set to acquire Hinton's Orchard summerfruit business in time for the 2024/2025 season. As a fifth generation family-run business based in Alexandra, Hinton's is a 159ha orchard famous for growing cherries, apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums, and peacharines for consumers in New Zealand and Asia. The Hinton family have a wonderful history with T&G and this acquisition supports our strategy of building our supply in key categories.
About the opportunity
We're seeking an Orchard Manager for Hinton's Orchard, a fantastic opportunity for an experienced grower to make their mark.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the Central Otago growing team across multiple blocks to maximise fruit quantity and quality supplied to T&G Fresh.
- Lead best-practice orchard management across pruning, spraying, irrigation, frost fighting and harvest.
- Drive high performance and develop a continuous improvement mindset across the growing team
- Orchard block development and innovation
- Develop annual crop forecasts and orchard budgets
- Partner with the People & Culture team to plan for seasonal labour including our RSE programme
- Ensure the orchard environment and equipment is maintained to a high standard
This role is based in Alexandra, Central Otago. The competitive salary package includes a company vehicle, accommodation, and visa / relocation support, if required.

- Strong orchard management experience
- Technical knowledge of best-practice stonefruit or pipfruit growing
- Exceptional people leader with a proven track record in driving high performance
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Collaborates effectively with internal teams and external customers and suppliers
