Operations Planner
A role where your analytical skills and ability to build great relationships are equally important.
If you enjoy working with data, solving problems and building relationships with people across an operation, this could be a great next step.
As an Operational Planner at T&G, you'll take ownership of our rolling 12-week packing plan, working closely with our network of packhouse partners to make sure the right fruit is packed, at the right time, for the right markets.
You'll become a key point of contact for our packhouse partners, working with their managers and production teams on an almost daily basis. It's a role where you'll build genuine working relationships, have a real influence on how plans are delivered and develop an understanding of the wider supply chain.
You'll also get exposure to operational planning and S&OP, work with our planning team and build your knowledge of SAP and the way our business operates. You don't need to come from the apple industry or have years of planning experience. We're interested in your analytical ability, how you work with people and your willingness to learn.
Based at our site in Hastings, or in Nelson for the right person.
What you'll be doing
No two weeks will look quite the same. Plans change, priorities shift and you'll need to bring people together to find practical solutions.
You'll be responsible for:
Owning the weekly packing plan: Create and maintain a rolling 12-week plan, bringing together supply and demand information to determine what will be packed, where and when.
Building strong packhouse relationships: Be a key point of contact for our third-party packhouses, working closely with packhouse managers, production teams and operational staff. You'll build trust, understand their challenges and keep communication flowing.
Making things happen through collaboration: Balance the needs of individual packhouses with what's best for the wider business. You'll often need to influence and find solutions without having direct authority, so strong relationships and good judgement really matter.
Solving problems as they arise: When supply, demand or operational circumstances change, you'll assess the impact, work through options and communicate changes clearly so everyone knows what needs to happen next.
Working across the business: Partner with supply and demand planners, our own packhouse teams, Quality and the wider planning function to keep operations aligned.
Using data to drive decisions: Work with Excel, SAP and planning information to monitor performance, identify issues and support better operational decisions.
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who is comfortable combining analytical thinking with a practical, people-focused approach.
You'll bring:
Strong relationship skills: You enjoy working with people, build trust easily and can develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Confident communication: You're comfortable picking up the phone, having constructive conversations and keeping people informed, particularly when plans change or things don't go to plan.
Analytical ability: You're confident working with data, particularly in Excel, and can turn information into practical decisions and solutions.
Adaptability and resilience: You can manage changing priorities, think on your feet and stay constructive when things get challenging.
A collaborative mindset: You're open to different perspectives and feedback, and know that getting the best outcome often means working through things together.
A willingness to learn: You don't need to know everything from day one. You'll be curious, quick to pick things up and keen to build your understanding of our operation.
Experience in operational planning, supply chain, FMCG or a similar environment would be helpful. We are open to those earlier in their career too, the right person attributes are whats most important for us. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage, but not essential.
What's in it for you?
This is a great opportunity to build your career in operational planning while developing skills that go well beyond the numbers.
You'll have real ownership of an important part of our operation, become a trusted contact for our packhouse partners and gain exposure to how planning decisions affect the wider business. You'll learn from an experienced planning team, build your understanding of supply chain and S&OP, and develop your influencing and stakeholder management skills along the way.
You'll also be joining T&G, a global fresh produce business with a purpose of Growing Healthier Futures. We're the team behind well-known apple brands including JAZZ™ and Envy™.
If you're someone who enjoys bringing people together, working through challenges and making things happen, we'd love to hear from you.
