About the opportunity
We're seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Orchard Manager to become a key member of our innovative apple growing team in Hawke’s Bay. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a world-class orchard, driving performance and sustainable practices in a leading, globally recognized horticultural organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspire and Lead: Provide visionary leadership to orchard teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in all operations.
Achieve Operational Excellence: Oversee daily orchard activities, including pruning, thinning, pest and disease management, irrigation, and harvesting, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with the orchard management team to develop sector plans and block-specific strategies that support high performance and yield.
Accurate Forecasting: Assist in preparing annual crop forecasts, aligning size, quality, pack-out, and volume targets to ensure optimal crop delivery.

About You:
Horticulture Expertise: You hold a relevant horticulture qualification and have at least 5 years of experience within the horticulture sector.
Proven Leadership: You bring strong people management skills and have experience leading diverse teams to success.
Hands-On and Resilient: A proactive, positive attitude is key, as you're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and work through challenging situations.
Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of horticultural practices, compliance standards, and fruit quality.
Operational Savvy: Solid experience with orchard operations, machinery, and the logistics that keep a productive orchard running smoothly.
Full Driver’s License: A valid driver's license is essential for this role.
